Extrusion Pelletizing System Equipment Refurbishing

We manufacture.
We modify and debottleneck.
We recondition.

Die Plates

Whether you own a Black Clawson Pelletizer or a competitor's machine, you can count on us to build, recondition or modify your die plates to like new condition. Since a die plate is a critical wear part used in a very hostile environment, you need to periodically reface and regrinding the cutting surface to maintain product cut quality. Our inspection department and our engineers can make an initial evaluation of the incoming die plate's condition. Original manufacturing design tolerances, heating medium integrity and process usage are also evaluated.

In some cases, the product type, product range or process service has changed from the original design intent. These changes can affect such die features as number of holes, final land L/D, facing type, etc. All of which can be reviewed for possible modification in order to improve the pellet output or quality. When all the information has been evaluated, our engineers prepare a formal sequential procedure for building, reconditioning or modification of the die plate.

In the reconditioning process, every effort is made to build up or clean up surfaces with as little virgin parent metal removal as possible. During grinding and other necessary processes, inevitably metal is removed. It's important to know exactly what residual wall thickness remains to the heating channels. That's why we developed "wear tracking" on new die plates. This feature allows us to tell you when minimum thickness exists. We then can advise you that a new replacement die plate is in order, without risking your die plate failing when you least expect it. This avoids costly downtime, product contamination and production losses. Contact us first for superior reconditioning.

Pelletizers

If you own an older Black Clawson Pelletizer, you can count on us to build, recondition or modify it to like new condition. Since a pelletizer is a critical piece of process equipment, used in a very hostile running environment, you need to periodically replace the rotating components and regrind the die plate surface to maintain product quality. Our inspection department and our engineers can make an initial evaluation of the incoming condition. Original manufacturing design tolerances, heating medium integrity and process usage are also evaluated.

Extruders and Feedscrews

Whether you own a Davis-Standard LLC, Black Clawson Extruder or a competitor's machine, you can count on us to build, recondition or modify your extruder or feed screws to meet your specifications. Since a feed screw is a critical wear part used in a very hostile environment, you need to periodically reface the flight surface to maintain product quality and output. Our inspection department and our engineers can make an initial evaluation of your feed screws' condition. Original manufacturing design tolerances and process usage are also evaluated.

In some cases, the product type, product range or process service has changed from the original design intent. These changes can affect flight depth, section lengths, mixing section design and other essential features. Our team of experts will examine your equipment for possible modification in order to improve the output or melt quality. When all the information has been evaluated, our engineers prepare a formal sequential procedure for building, reconditioning or modification.

We have developed "wear tracking" on feed screws. This feature helps us to determine whether output or quality loss exists and if a new replacement feed screw is needed. Best of all, it helps you avoid costly downtime, product contamination and production losses. Contact us first for superior reconditioning.

Black Clawson Converting Machinery manufactures all the products and systems you need to produce the high-quality pellets your business demands. And, since we offer a full range of refurbishing, you get more than just proven quality and reliability. You get the freedom to have your pelletizing line designed around the system components that meet your exact requirements. All subsystem and support equipment such as screen changers, diverter valves, heating systems, classifiers, dryers, water systems, control panels, etc may be included to provide a total system concept. The end result is superior quality, highly reliable machine lines that turn pellets into bigger profits for you.

While the above may sound similar to other suppliers, we can assure you that the specific execution that we utilize is dramatically better. Upon request we can provide further specifics of our unique and proprietary approaches, on-going continuous improvements and can supply specific contact references. You can easily see why billions of pounds (kilograms) of pellets are produced every year on Black Clawson die plates and pelletizers.
