Drying Systems
We design dryers that run efficiently and in tandem with our coaters, laminators and winders - making our dryers an integral part of your coating line. The same goes for dryer controls. Control logic and interfaces are seamlessly integrated with your machine line controls. In short, that means you don't just buy a dryer from Black Clawson Converting Machinery - you buy a whole process.
Integral and Modular Dryers
Black Clawson Converting Machinery dryers are available in two standard arrangements: Integral and Modular.
Our Integral Dryer is designed with all of the air handling apparatus - nozzles, supply fans, heating system, filters and air distribution plenums - built into one enclosure. This compact design saves space and helps to minimize installation costs, as well. Then there's our Modular Dryer. It has a separate apparatus enclosure, consisting of supply fans, heating system, filters and air mixing plenums, that is connected to the dryer by ductwork. This arrangement offers maximum flexibility, allowing customized heating systems, HEPA filtration, or remote installation. The result is smooth, fast, efficient drying and a superior coated product.
Every Black Clawson Converting Machinery dryer is designed with the following features:
- Dryer housings split at the web line with screw jack retraction for easy threading and maintenance.
- Individual or multi-zone dryer systems for added versatility.
- Aluminized steel construction means cost-effectiveness without sacrificing quality (stainless steel is also available).
- View windows throughout the dryer length allow you to check on the web at any time.
- Web support rolls with external bearings on 12-inch center (Arch Dryer only).
- Standard air system designs use recirculating airflow arrangement for maximum thermal efficiency.
- A variety of heating systems are available, including gas or oil-fired burners, thermal fluid or steam coils and electric, as well as indirect-fired burner systems for special applications.
- Critical process variables are monitored and recorded through the Integrator Supervisory Control System - temperature, pressure, flow rate, humidity, and LFL monitor and control schemes are available.
Drying solvents and films are our specialty
When your process involves solvents, you need to be sure your dryer is up to the challenge. With a Black Clawson Converting Machinery dryer, you can have two temperature controls - one for the top and one for the bottom of your web. You can take advantage of our nozzle technology, which lets your web ride through on a cushion of air, eliminating excess friction. And, as always, you can count on your coating being dry before it reaches the winder.
