Winding Technology - QFP Systems

QFP Systems - "Quality, Functionality & Performance"

QFP winding and unwind systems are built for efficiency and profitability for rolls 50 inches in diameter and below. These pre-engineered systems are delivered wired, piped, and tested for more efficient start-ups and to minimize costs. Shafted or shaftless versions are available to accommodate a variety of applications including solution coating, extrusion coating, flat and embossed films, non wovens, CPP, and BOPP films. The QFP is available in three sizes: 30-inch and 42-inch (762mm and 1,066mm) diameter models for rolls up to 3,000 pounds or 1,360 kg (Model 20); and a 50-inch (1,270mm) diameter model for rolls up to 5,000 pounds or 2,268 kg (Model 30). Pre-engineered models are available in widths up to 120 inches (3,048mm). All models have a maximum speed of 2,000 fpm (610 mpm).

Highlights of fixed and adjustable arm QFP:

  • Pre-engineered mechanical drives with drive motors mounted off the turret.
  • Max tension of 200 pounds or 91 kg (Model 20) and 300 pounds or 136 kg (Model 30 and Heavy 20).
  • Model 20 indexers of 1, 2 and 8 rpm; Model 30 indexers of 1 and 2 rpm.
  • Model 20 available with pivot-out shaft system.
  • Model 20 and 30 available with latching both sides of the machine to aid in easy roll removal.
  • Integrated controls using Allen Bradley PanelView operator interface and Control Logix plc platform. Other systems available as options.

Highlights of individual adjustable arm QFP turret:

  • 60-inch (1,524mm) differential from max to min web width.
  • Pneumatic mechanical drive chucks
  • Auto inflation.
  • Hand-held pendant station for chucking.
  • Optional +/- 1.5-inch (38mm) arm side shift.
  • Optional auxiliary lay-on rolls for winding applications.

Highlights of QFP unwind splicer:

  • Dual direction capability.
  • Low inertia paster roll carriage.
  • Web driven paster rolls.
  • Foil splicing to 1,500 fpm (457 mpm).
  • Reduced tail length control.
  • Dancer tension control.
  • Optional accutail splice control system.

Highlights of QFP roll changer:

  • Dual direction capability.
  • Programmable control of winding parameters.
  • Precision transducers used for accurate and responsive tension control.
  • Layon roll system selection specific to process IE: driven carriage with horizontal loading for light nip applications or with pendulum for/center surface winding or simple horizontal pneumatically loaded carriage.
  • Available with multiple core sizes.
  • Patented knife transfer system provides reliable, straight line, no foldback transfers or static knife for film applications and traversing cut off for specialty applications.
  • Optional shear, razor, or score slitting for winding up to four lanes.
  • Optional dancer tension control.
